How do I know whether to repair or replace my AC?
A few rules of thumb: if your central AC is over 15 years old and needs a major repair (compressor, coil, condenser), replacement usually makes more financial sense. If it's under 10 years old and the repair is minor (capacitor, contactor, fan motor), fix it. The 50% rule also applies — if the repair cost is more than 50% of a new unit's cost, replace. Dave will give you an honest assessment either way — no commission-based sales pressure.
How much does a new furnace cost in Pennsylvania?
For a typical residential installation in Bucks or Montgomery County, standard-efficiency gas furnace replacement runs roughly $4,000-$7,000 installed, and high-efficiency models (90%+ AFUE) range from $6,500-$10,000. Final cost depends on home size, duct condition, venting requirements, and brand. Free quotes with itemized pricing — no surprise fees.
Do you install heat pumps?
Yes. We install air-source heat pumps, cold-climate inverter heat pumps, and hybrid dual-fuel systems. Heat pumps work well in Pennsylvania's climate when properly sized and installed. Factory-trained on Daikin, Mitsubishi, Carrier, Trane, Lennox, and Goodman.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Diamond Dave's Mechanical Service LLC is fully licensed and insured in Pennsylvania. Proof available on request before any work begins. Dave is the owner and lead technician — not a dispatched contractor.
How much is a service call or diagnostic fee?
Give us a call for current service call pricing. We keep diagnostic fees fair and transparent, and in many cases the service call fee is waived if you proceed with the recommended repair or installation.
Do you offer free HVAC quotes?
Yes. Free, no-obligation quotes for any HVAC installation or replacement work. We come out, assess your home, discuss your options, and give you itemized pricing. No high-pressure sales.
What HVAC brands do you install?
We install and service most major brands including Goodman, Daikin, Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Mitsubishi, Rheem, and Bryant. Brand recommendation depends on your home, budget, and efficiency goals — not whichever has the biggest contractor rebate.
How often should I service my HVAC system?
At minimum, service your heating system once a year (ideally in fall) and your air conditioner once a year (ideally in spring). Annual tune-ups catch small problems before they become mid-winter or mid-summer emergencies, keep efficiency up, and are usually required to maintain manufacturer warranty coverage.
What SEER rating should my new AC have?
As of 2023, the minimum SEER2 rating for new residential AC in the northern US is 13.4 (equivalent to the old SEER 14). For Pennsylvania homes, we typically recommend SEER2 15-18 for the best balance of upfront cost and long-term energy savings.
Do you work on commercial HVAC?
Yes. We handle commercial HVAC for restaurants, offices, small retail, medical/dental practices, and other small commercial properties across Bucks and Montgomery County. We schedule around business hours when needed.
Can you install a water heater?
Yes. We install and replace tank-style and tankless water heaters, both gas and electric. Standard tank replacements are usually a same-day job.
How long has Diamond Dave's been in business?
Dave Dipaola has been in the HVAC trade for 23 years. He formed Diamond Dave's Mechanical Service LLC in 2003 after years of HVAC side jobs for friends and neighbors. Still family-owned and owner-operated.
Can you install a ductless mini-split?
Yes. Ductless mini-splits are a specialty — great for additions, finished basements, sunrooms, garages, and whole-house installs in older homes without ductwork. Single-zone and multi-zone systems from Mitsubishi, Daikin, and other major brands.
